Hello Kitty

Sunday, April 26, 2015

My classmate made this really adorable Hello Kitty cookie for us and it is yummy. Such is a simple weekend – getting lectured by Hon wee to finish my tutorial, seeing Ash for a bit and having dinner (& watching Avengers) with The Kohs. It's getting busy, but I'll "always make time". Goodnight, be kind to yourself. c.t.

No-Bake Oreo Truffles

Thursday, April 23, 2015
I am such a big, big fan of oreos. I usually only reject them if I have to go out and socialise because black teeth, thats why. Yeah, so I went to Honwee's house and make oreo truffles with his sister. There weren't any white candy melts left so we settled for the brown ones. And.... this is our end result:

I can't help it, it looks like the grossest thing on Earth, coupled with H's photography skills (haha keeds, I love you). Well, you know, if you're a pro (and have better photography skills) you might just end up having this:

The truffles are really easy to make tho, I will attached the recipe or the direct link to the recipe page at the end of this entry – scroll to skip the nitty-gritty stuff.

1) We never knew how much was enough, we just kept blending LOL.

My angel guiding me because I noob beyond hope.

I wished I can rewind time back to this very moment and stop H from adding too much cream cheese. I will never forget Minhui's horrified face when we told her that we added everything (the cream cheese) into the oreo sand.

The yuckiest part of making the truffles because you hand will eventually turn red from all the mixing, and everything just sticks on your hand! I'll never survive NDU's 'wet and sandy'.

Anyhow it is almost impossible to go wrong with oreos so everybody told me that the truffles taste great? Not sure if they are all patronising me. Their reaction to its appearance tho........ hahahaha. Moral of story, don't judge a food but its cover.

Hereeeeee is the recipe, so amature-ish but ok la can pass. Original (and more detailed) recipe can be found here

Thank you for taking your time to read this! Be kind to yourself. c.t.

Truffles Friday!!! (Loading...)

Friday, April 17, 2015

Delicious Duo is going to reunite once more to make Oreo Truffles – will put up the recipe here later on. That's one great thing about MH she can cook anything!! I remember there was once I wanted to bake Rocher Cupcakes for my school mates and asked HW to help me. That was when I just knew MH, so she was not close enough to offer her assistance. And then HW and I made a mess in her kitchen, it was so bad she could not take it any longer and came in to help despite saying "I am not going to help ok" initially. My culinary skills is so bad I think most mothers will tell their son to dump me and get on with life. Thankful for Mama Koh, she simply laughs it off.

Yay so, that's tomorrow and I cannot wait! Thank for accommodating Minz, you know I love you.

Lady M Confections, Singapore

Sunday, April 12, 2015
So thankful for Saturdays; I love spending time with H (duh). I kept pestering H about going to Lady M because one night I was reading Yang Ting's Dayre, and it made me really hungry!!

Not a really good start to the day because no matter what I put on, I still felt really ugly. One of those days huh. Took me from 10ish A.M. to 3 P.M. before I am willing to leave house (duration includes an one hour nap!) Psssh, it was horrible because H had to sit me down and give me a long, long hug before I stop feeling so messed up. Thank you, Honwee!

The queue at Lady M is actually located at level 2! Level 1 is for their take-aways. Initially I went to queue outside at Level 1, but smartypants H went to check what the queue was for. Remember, eat-in is at level 2.

The queue seems quite terrifying, but if there is only a couple of you, it should be really quick!

Please crown me the Queen of Expressions.

My overly-exited-about-food date. The lighting makes the food look really good, but also give us exaggerated eye-bags.

We did not order any drinks because I still have a bottle of Ribena... haha so cheapo I cannotttttttt.

I am a true blue Singaporean. Speaking of which, at that point of time my phone was about die (17% maybe?) and I left my portable charger at home. Hence I was really whiney throughout the entire trip until I saw an empty socket at Lady M. My face lit up almost immediately. Wait, let me show you. H caught my expression unknowingly. Haha.

That, my friend, is the Singaporean Cheapo face.

Honwee smelling his Vanilla Mille Crêpes (we couldn't decide on the pronunciation so H called it Creep, and I call it Creepy – I'll google it later ok, tell you by the end of entry).

I NEVER KNEW HONWEE LIKED BENEDICT UNTIL TODAY?! Honwee's EC-ers take note, the way to Honwee's heart is coffee bean's egg benedict, because I didn't even know it until today. I've failed.

I tried Canopy's Egg Benedict once and I hated it. It was my first Egg Benedict, so needless to say I've never ate another benedict since. I gave it a try today after much persuasion on H's side and well, I guess I could get used to it!

My small appetite led to H finishing 1.5 portion of cake + egg benedict. Overall it cost around $34+++? (1 main, 2 cakes). I am not sure if that is expensive to you, but for a once-in-awhile indulge I think its fine? Might hit up to $50+++ if you have 2 mains instead? Ok wait, this is not a review.

Ok yup, Honwee is right. It is pronounced as 'creep' or 'crepe'? Ker-rip. krp?

Thank you for being the photographer of the day!! Your skills are improving tremendously.

We went to fetch R from the airport at night. Welcome Home Raichu!! May the terror begins *insert devil's emoji

Thank you for your Banana Pocky that you would not stop raving about.

P/S: Thank you for fixing my watch Yoko Yeap! :) #nakedgloryforlife

First step

Ah the shame of an overly-filtered image.
"Maybe she's born with it, maybe its the instagram filter"

Anyhow, I just concluded my very last (basic) dance class. I am free to join the open class now that I am -kinda- better than I used to be. I don't know if I've shared this but picking up dance (AT TWENTY YEARS OLD?!) was the most terrifying baby step I've ever made. I never knew how much dance meant to me until I joined Inco – self-formed/taught dance crew consisting of a group of good friends. D, our 'leader', was very much into dance at that point. We were (well, used to) good friends and I was very inspired by him.

For reasons that I've long forgotten, the whole team got disbanded. I suppose studies and the reality of the education caught up? We weren't the brightest in Anderson, you see. We had a teacher, Ms V, who so kindly volunteered to give us classes before we go for our "dance prac". But I guess we just weren't academically good enough to fight for a modern dance CCA in school.

I was never a good dancer. I move awkward. My long limbs made it a lot worst, especially because I have such lazy hands. I remember watching myself dance in a video recorded by my friend, and I wanted to bury my head in the sand or wherever possible.

INITIALLY, MY FRIENDS ALL LAUGHED AT ME. R even bet that I would chicken out. However, under G's constant nagging, I forced myself up to the counter and paid for my basic course.  Pay means cannot chicken out liao ma. $130 leh. When I keyed in my pin number on that machine I knew the hardest part was over. Second hardest was to turn up, but money meant too much for me to just skip the course entirely.

I don't know why I made it sound like I am achieving my life-long goal when others do it on a daily basis. You must understand 1) I sucked at dancing. 2) I am 20?! 3) I was afraid of how people might think. Like you know.. a horse trying to be a unicorn. I am very happy I completed the course anyway, I've learnt so much and is more determined to be physically fit so I could utilise the correct muscles for the correct moves. Yes, and of course I will put myself at the counter more often to go for their open classes or other dance courses. Now when I do that, I do it with no fear.

If you have read this far, I say to you, go forth and chase your horizon. We only have 1 life to make things right. Regrets weight tonnes heavier than the fear you're currently experiencing.

Three cheers for big dreams and even bigger guts to follow them. Till then, be kind to yourself. c.t.

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

And its live

YAY, after so much work, the blog template is finally done!! I have had a tough time sorting out the  codes. And since I did not use the default blogger layout, it was even tougher! (pouts) Nonetheless, very proud of myself. I don't know where I learnt all these but I guess codes are easier to read when its manually done by an ordinary somebody (i.e. not a professional) I've since switched my wordpress account to a private blog – chatter box needs a place to chatter. So this blog is currently my  o n l y  blog. :)

Picked up my camera today and have been practising my shots. I've learnt a thing or two from H's uncle the other day at the BBQ. *eternally grateful* HOPE YOU LIKE MY TEMPLATE AS MUCH AS I DO, and thank you Kaixian for your input on dayre (if you ever read this place, that is)!

Have a nice day, be kind to yourself! c.t.

Ender's Game

“In the moment when I truly understand my enemy, understand him well enough to defeat him, then in that very moment I also love him. I think it’s impossible to really understand somebody, what they want, what they believe, and not love them the way they love themselves. And then, in that very moment when I love them.... I destroy them.”

There is no words for it. I am borrowing the book tomorrow then maybe I can utter something remotely intellectual. Film is a 4.5/5 for me – crazy kickass technology used, graphics were amazing and boy, Asa Butterfield, that acting for the then 16-17 year old is insane. However, films are essentially just... films. There was this constant bugging within telling me that something is missing. Found out that it is a science fiction book + it is available at the local library. SO YEAH. MAKE ME SMART TOO, ORSON SCOTT CARD.

Results day! I didn't do well this semester, slightly better but still considerably horrible. This time it doesn't affect me as much; all I know is that I had fun adjusting myself and improving. There is a lot of things I've learnt during this semester – altering my attitude towards people and school, pursuing dreams. Caught 'Love, Rosie' one of the recent nights, and I felt that the greatest take away was that *SPOILER ALERT* Despite not going to Boston like Alex, climbing the corporate ladder and living the fancy life, Rosie gained so much!  The badass red-haired best friend, her adorable little girl, and in the end achieving her dreams of owning a hotel. *END OF SPOILER* I know it seems like reality and I don't mix but we do. "The universe is conspiring in our favor," and all we have to do is believe, enjoy and work hard.

Minhui kept me company today because Honwee is in camp. Fooling around before I start rehearsing.

I was sending Honwee a picture of myself – shirt tucked in, plastered my signature goofy expression. He claims that I am still beautiful (being politically correct, I see). Yes, this is the life of my boyfriend; you can never want me for my appearance because 95% of the time I am ugly and unglamorous. I truly accept myself for that.

I was just really excited to have my own corner ok.

I think Minhui laughed at me over something so I went to my corner and drew circles.

There isn't any picture of me dancing because I was really shy dancing in front of the camera. Anyway, big thank-you to Minhui for spending time with me! I love and appreciate you so much.
